Today we had a bit of an outing. I had put a laundry organizer on cragislist and got 4 inquiries within 12 hours. Everyone interested was in Pasco, so we decided to take it up there with us as we also had some gift certificates to spend on the kid(s). At least selling it paid the gas to get up there and back.

We stopped in at Olive Garden to see how long the wait was. Not bad, only 15 min, so we decided to stay and eat there. One older man was waiting ahead of us and then about seven more people came in the door to meet him. They started complaining about how long it was taking for them to get a table. It was explained to them that a group of elderly women were at the large group table and they could not ask them to leave so this new group would have to be patient. They were a very rude bunch, threatening to send the older guy to talk to these elderly women to get them to leave. As we were seated, I saw this group of elderly women, one even had an oxygen tank, they were elderly indeed.
Our meal was great, Levi had the pizza and only ate about one slice. He also enjoyed the olives & croutons from the salad and a breadstick with a glass of milk. Matt ordered a Sprite and Levi wanted a sip of soda. He took one and then held it in his mouth awhile, started making faces and then slowly spit it out into his milk. Yuk! At least we have him trained well enough now not to spit it out on the table. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it was good, Levi had a couple bites of it as well and liked it. After our meal I could not resist ordering dessert. Normally I am a chocolate fanatic but they had a new dessert menu and something there caught my eye.

The Lemon Cream Cake. This is worth the astronomical price they charge! Matt said it reminded him of Entenmanns coffee cake and I would have to agree. It is not very tart and with the cream center and powdered sugar topping it is not unlike the wonderful
Cheese Filled Crumb Coffee Cake that my parents would provide to us as a special treat Sabbath mornings as a kid. The meal was not without incident, as Levi started getting antsy at the end and knocked over his milk (an honest accident) and what a mess that made!

After eating we went to Toys R Us to spend some gift cards. I pondered over the toddler beds but Matt doesn't think Levi is quite ready for that so I looked around for a Bumbo Baby Seat. The only one they had was blue. I asked the salesgirl to look in the back for a more girlish color. She gave me a hard time and asked me "are you sure it's a girl? Yeah, but are you
sure?" and then had to tell me a couple stories about family members who were told they were having girls but she and her mom knew that they were really having a boy and they had a boy after all. She was sure a kick in the pants. Matt found some cool Lego stuff for Levi in addition to some more wooden track for his train table and I am not sure what else we got but we spent up that gift card in no time! :)
After this it was starting to get dark so we headed home. I still had to feed horses tonight. I had planned to be back to town by 8 pm but we really didn't get back until 9 pm. On the drive home Levi decided he was finally hungry so he scarfed down two more pieces of his pizza and another breadstick or two.
On the way out to the barn we saw a cop on the side of the road with his lights on. We were pointing out the policeman to Levi and then he turned his lights off as we drove past. Then he pulled out behind us and Matt said "Watch this, he is going to pull us over for that headlight." Sure enough. He didn't waste any time turning his lights back on. Oh shoot, I realized that since we have had this truck up for sale and parked around town I had taken everything out of it, including registration and proof of insurance. WHOOPS! The officer walked up and seemed a little young and nervous. He said "Did you realize you had a headlight out, that is why I pulled you over." License, registration and proof of insurance please. Well Matt had his license handy but of course we had nothing else to give him. He said he would give us a verbal warning on the headlight but that lack of insurance is a ticket of $550. Then he went back to his car to call it in. He came back after everything checked out and said "You know, I am letting you off but this could have cost you about $700-800 worth of tickets tonight. I could write you one for lack of registration for $120. And no proof of insurance is another $550. And then the headlight..." he repeated himself to be sure we understood and then he told us the road was clear, we could pull out as there wasn't any traffic coming for awhile. Interesting guy. And to think I just pledged $12 after being harassed by the
Washington State Fraternal Order of Police. At least they mailed me a sticker.
In pregnancy news, my legs and ankles and feet are quite swollen by the end of each day. It is such a strange sensation. In fact I typically notice it about lunch time, when I try to put my shoes back on and have to wrestle with them. When I walked into work this morning one of the ladies said to me "You're getting close." I said "well..." and she said "It looks like you've dropped." I said "I have?" Funny how people notice things about you - or think they do. I told her when Matt shaves his head it takes me about two days to realize it because I just am not an observant person. If I did have a "lightening" I would not have noticed that either. But now I am paranoid wondering if she is right. The girl did not thrash about today as usual. She has been pretty darn quiet. Oh, there was some action at lunch and a few kicks after dinner but nothing like the fight club that it has been in there.
I picked up a new book to read...well ok it's an older book that was in the free pile at work. I didn't take it at first because it is called
The Girlfriends Guide To Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine. I figured that having already been through one pregnancy and about 8/9ths of the way through this one it wouldn't offer me much. But it has been entertaining. She and I disagree on a couple things - mainly using drugs for delivery, I know it's possible. She doesn't see the point of trying. But she is quite humorous and this book is a good read, esp. for the first time mom wondering all those questions you don't want to bother your doctor with. It is not a technical book at all, rather a funny look at your changing body. It's a book I would pass along.
Enough rambling from me for now.
