Wednesday morning we got up and had breakfast. I was excited because today was planned our trip to the
Land of Little Horses. I had gone there a couple times as a kid and loved it. Now I was eager to see it as an adult, and share it with Levi. Alas, it was not to be. As we pulled into the location there was a gate across the drive CLOSED, and another sign "Warning, these premisses are guarded by trained attack dogs." As we turned around I noticed the home's collection of garden gnomes. Interesting.

Well we were in the heart of Gettysburg so we decided to go to the battle field and visitor center while we were in the neighborhood. We started out with a picnic lunch that I had packed. PB&J with chips, apples and dessert. Levi took little bites here and there and frolicked, enjoying his freedom from the car seat. Dad was eager to show us the
the New Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center.
The new building, which opened in April 2008 with a grand opening scheduled for September, orients visitors to the park and Gettysburg, hosts a museum on the Civil War from beginning to dramatic end featuring items from the massive museum collection of Civil War and Gettysburg artifacts, and houses the fully restored Gettysburg Cyclorama. The $135 million dollar project has been funded through generous donations of corporations and individuals alike.Dad got us tickets to the 20 minute film entitled "A New Birth of Freedom" about the Battle of Gettysburg, which was interesting. We then toured the museum and stopped in at the gift shop before taking a drive around the park. We stopped at The Pennsylvania Monument at Gettysburg and climbed the spiral staircase to the top, taking in the view.

After our journey through the past we drove on to
Boyds Bear Country, the World's Most Humongous Teddy Bear Store™. We explored their many levels and viewed all the varieties of teddy bears and animals that they offer for sale. Levi posed in a teddy bear stand, although I think his head is a bit small. :) I found their help desk sign to be amusing. Leaving the store, Levi decided on his own to showcase his walking-backwards skills.

Tonight we visited with my mom's sister Wendy and her daughter Erin for dinner. It was nice to see them again. Wendy had made a lovely cheese quiche (which Levi gobbled down), corn on the cob, fresh green beans and a cold tomato soup from all her garden ingredients. Very tasty!

Erin was making faces at Levi from across the table, so he decided to go over and visit with her. He then discovered her cellphone and started pushing buttons. After a chirp, Erin looked down and saw that he had sent a text to someone. "Who did you text Levi?" She looked through the history and saw that he had sent the letter "P" to her friend Andrea's husband. "Of all the letters, you had to choose that one?" It was quite amusing.
Wendy gave Levi some pony rides on her leg, which he enjoyed so much that when she was done and stood up, he walked over to her and stood over her feet, looking down, wanting another ride.

It was a full and enriching day with family.
