This morning Levi went into the kitchen and said "Hi Dada" to Matt. He also slept in until almost 11 am so we all got some much needed extra rest after our relaxing holiday.

Thanksgiving 2007

This year we stayed home and had over some of Matt family: Jerry & Gail, Venetha and my friend Lara. I tried a new recipe - spicy sweet potatoes which seemed to go over quite well. I also made stuffing and heated up a vegetarian turkey loaf (pre-made). Matt made his mashed potatoes and had bought some garlic peppercorn bread. Jerry and Gail brought over a spectacular salad and avacado, and cran-apple Martinelli's. We also had cranberry juice. Lara brought green bean casserole and we all feasted. Right before the meal the family was playing with Levi and he took five steps over to the sofa - the most he has walked to date. Later on while I was in the kitchen I hear that he again walked that far so he is starting to come along in that department. For dessert Venetha had made a pumpkin pie and brought a berry pie. Levi sat with Jerry and helped himself to pie and whipped topping, throughly enjoying every minute of it.

We called my dad Jeff to wish him a happy Thanksgiving and I gave the phone to Levi, after listening to Grandpa Jeff for a short while he replied with "Hi! Hi! Hi! Hi!" the most I have heard him talk on the phone. We also talked to Grandma KP and it sounds like she and Wes & Joanie and Joyce & Orville were having fun in Montana, about to go do some skeet shooting.

I have been working hard on the family tree lately and that has been a lot of fun, as I talk with the grandparents for information, they remember more stories to tell me.

The other thing of late is that Levi is pointing at everything and making even more car sounds vocally, screeching and doing burn outs and revving up, Matchbox cars are his favorite toy lately.

November 5 2007

This morning Levi said "mama" TO me three times within the hour while I was getting ready for work. Considering most of his verbage has been aimed at "daddy" this was pretty exciting for me.

When I went home for lunch I sat down with him to eat our meal. He ate off my plate with his fingers for awhile but as soon as I put down my fork, he picked it up and started trying to stab peas or carrots with it. When he couldn't get one after about three tries he would pick up the vegetable with his free (right) hand and move it so it was off by itself somewhere else on the plate and then he would try again with the fork and then he could get it. I was so proud of my baby boy.
