June 26 2007

Today our new camera (a digital Nikon D40X) came in the mail at lunch time. I had just enough time to put it together and snap one photo before having to leave to go back to work. The subject of that photo? Levi, of course.

Matt had fun experimenting all afternoon, here are a few samples.

June 24 2007

Today is the big day for grandma Susan! The wedding was held at a very pretty country club. The flower girl did great while practicing her role but when the big moment came she cried, not expecting everyone to be staring at her. The ceremony was short and afterwards there were appetizers to warm up our stomachs for the catered lunch. It was all very good food. There was a vegetable brie wheel, vegetable platters, and spinach/artichoke dip. I gave Levi a piece of bread because it was toasted and pretty hard and he enjoyed knawing on that. At one point it got soft and he was getting pieces from it that I felt were too large, so I took it away from him. I have never heard such a screeching! Apparently now he has also learned to appreciate ownership of something. The lunch was a choice of almond-encrusted chicken or a vegetable linguine.

Levi seemed kind of cranky all afternoon, so I pushed him around the room in his stroller for awhile. After the reception we went with Matt's cousin Cameron in the Escalade back to Matt's aunt Julie's house. We had a nice time visiting with everyone and even spent some time in the pool.

That evening we went out to see Oceans 13 and I enjoyed it, Levi slept through all but about 20 minutes of it.

June 22 2007

Today I took the day off work and we got up early and drove to Portland to PDX. On the drive over Levi invented a new game. He grabbed his blanket and pulled it up over his head and held it there a few seconds and then uncovered his face and smiled. This went on for quite some time. It was really cute and the first time I have seen him initiate peek-a-boo.

We made it to the airport and parked in economy parking Red section C1. We caught the bus from there to the airport and Levi loved the ride. I think he mostly enjoyed being able to see out the windows and being held in a vehicle.

Safely arriving in San Diego we were met at the airport by Susan, Richard and Amber. Levi saw Susan and smiled and reached up his arms to be let out of the stroller.

Our baggage came through and we headed to Grandma Lile's for potato soup dinner. After that we had to go to the mall and shop for dress clothes as we had forgotten our garment bag at home! I found two dresses that I liked, and Matt got a pair of slacks for the wedding.

Happy Fathers Day today! Levi's first one. He got Matt a Cars card that revved up when you opened it. I don't know who enjoyed that more ~ Matt or Levi :) I had "helped" him sign his name to it and he drew some scribbles in it as well.

We went out to eat breakfast today at Coffee Connections and that was good as usual.

We had BBQ this evening as a "test run" for Levi's birthday party and the weather was awesome, high 60s. Everything went off smooth without a hitch and the food was fantastic.

Levi waved goodbye today to grandma KP as she left.

June 16 2007

Today we got up at 4 am and drove to Portland to meet Matt's grandfather (from Maine) and we went to breakfast with him and then drove on up north to Olympia. Levi was very good in the car and slept the whole way from Portland to Olympia.

We spent from noon to seven thirty at Matt's uncle Steve's house. We had a great time visiting and Matt's cousin Elisabeth (5) brought out many toys to share with Levi. He had a great time crawling around their house as well. We had a nice dinner with them and Levi even got a kiss from their goat!

We got home about 1:30 am and boy were we all tired!

June 12 2007

Today Levi is 11 months old....only one more month until the big day! Matt finalized his design for the Birthday Bash and Dedication invitation and I took that down to Wal-Mart to order prints. I also picked up some prescriptions for Levi. We went and stood in line at the photo studio for awhile then the gal in charge came over and asked me if I had an appointment. I said no (usually there is no one there when I go in) so I made an appt. for an hour later. We came home then and watched Family Feud and ate some lunch and then went back in for our portrait. We had to wait about 20 minutes at least as she was still finishing up with the last family. She got some super cute pics of Levi, one with a beach background and a lai around his neck. The last photo we tried was a profile shot but he was starting to get upset at that point and was crying so I didn't order any of that one. I did end up getting more than the $6 package this time.
Well after all that Levi took his nap and when he woke up I could see he had a rash up his neck and on his forehead. I used some of the ointment that had been prescribed and that did seem to help. He still has a cold and I consider us lucky to have gotten the photos taken when we did (between sniffles and rashes).

June 11 2007

Today I decided to stay home from work as I have a cold and don't want to give my germs to all the co-workers. Matt went to workout at the gym early today and brought Levi in to me as the alarm had gotten him up. We spent some precious time resting during which I said to him "I love you" and he said "aahh luub ooo" Not sure if that counts as a first sentence but it sure melted my heart. :)

June 8 2007

Levi has been sick the past few days and has had some goop coming from his eyes and they were looking a little red so we were afraid it might be pink eye. Last night he had a fever so this morning Matt decided to call the doctor and take him in. Their appointment was at 10:30 am. I did not go this time, as I was at work.

Matt reports that he weighed in at 19 lbs 13 oz. The doctor said that he did NOT have pink eye, but probably did have a slight sore throat to go along with his snot and goo. They sent him home with a bag over his unmentionable to catch his pee, and I am not sure why. He has been on an anti-inflamatory and they were worried he might have a slight yeast infection from that down below.

Matt mentioned Levi has also had diarrhea for about a week and was told that can last from 1-3 weeks off and on and could be from any sort of virus he might have picked up at the airport or wherever.

This is kind of an incomplete posting because it was in a hurried conversation over the lunch hour that I was informed of the office visit. They didn't have our regular doctor today, they saw someone else, who is very nice but has a bias against pit bulls. (Which we learned of when she came to talk to our birthing class group)

Wes and Joanie and mom KP are coming to town tomorrow for the day so it is really a shame the little one has to be sick. We plan to all have lunch together tomorrow and I am making enchiladas.

June 6 2006

This has been a busy week with something going on every evening it seems. Tonight was no exception. It was the 8th grade graduation for cousin Jason and some other kids I knew from the class; Michael, Mariah, Zach, etc. I went with ma KP and did not take Levi as he has a bad cold at the moment. When I got home Levi was very happy to see me so we spent some time playing and then I gave him his bath and he did something new tonight! When I held up his play bath cup and water came out the bottom (like an upside down fountain) Levi leaned in and stuck his tounge out to try and taste it! How neat! I called Matt in to come and see this new development. He also started really splashing in the tub and laughing hysterically. It was a really fun bathtime tonight. After that I gave Levi the run of the house and he had a blast crawling into all kinds of new places. Then I played with him some more and put him to bed. He was not happy about that! I sang to him and told him a story and he was definately tired. I finally had to just leave his room and let him cry it out. He was asleep within 15 minutes but man that is hard for me!

June 1 2006

Levi tried some watermelon today and enjoyed it. We went to GMa Venethas for dinner as it was great Auntie Virginia's birthday. Levi managed to sneak a marble in his mouth while at Grandmas but we got it out right away. Phew! He is at the age now where you have to watch him like a hawk! He is speeding along crawling, or pulling up and holding on-walking along "cruising" He is at a pretty fun age but also more challenging. He loves to pull things out - tupperware out of drawers, clothes out of suitcases...etc.
