Today Lara watched Levi while Matt had physical therapy. She called me at work to tell me Levi was laughing at her. I have heard him laugh before but it reminded me to update the website ;-)

October 28 2006

Tonight we attended a costume/halloween party at cousins. We did not dress up but I did make a "kitty litter cake." The party was from 6 pm until about 11 pm. Levi was awake most of the time, very happy and bright and enjoying the sights and sounds. He was such a good baby and finally fell asleep in John's arms about 10:30.

Levi is continuing to sleep through the night, hitting the sack about 10:30 and sleeping until 6 am. Now if only I could get to bed that early!

Today was a heartbreaking day for me. Somehow my mare Dee got out of her pasture and when she was discovered by a fellow club member, Cindy, she was colicing. When I called the vet clinic they said that yes she was there and in pretty bad shape. After a rectal exam the vet could feel a torsion so I made the decision to euthanize her. It would have been a 2-hour trip to WSU and approx $5,000 to try and save her, with a very bleak % that she would even make it. At the age of 21 I didn't feel that would be fair to her to extend her suffering. It was one of the saddest days of my life. She was laying down and resting when she saw the trailer pull into the clinic and she stood right up and marched out to it even though she was in a lot of pain. I have to thank Matt and Lara for their support, Don for taking care of the burial for me and Levi for his constant smiles, distracting me from my loss. I loved that mare.

October 19 2006

Last night Levi went to bed at 11 pm and slept until 6 am. Hooray! He ate and went back to sleep until at least 9:30 am (sleeping through Matt's physical therapy). I like this new schedule and hope he will stick with it because the past week his night time schedule has left me with a bit to be desired :)

Levi's first bath in the big tub. Matt reports he had a great time, kicking and splashing about with a big smile the whole time.

Friday the 13th, we take Levi into the clinic to have him weighed. He is 13 lbs 7 oz now. Wow!

Levi is 3 months old today! I took some photos of him posed with a pumpkin and he was a good sport but I didn't get the smile I was hoping for so we'll try again on Sunday.

Today Levi holds the bottle up by himself while Matt feeds him. He is blowing a lot of bubbles and trying so very hard to talk. He is so much fun and just the right cuddling size.
